The 14th Jc-IFToMM Symposium
The 14th Symposium was held on 12th July, 2008 at Conference Room 304, Tokyo Institute of Technology. 20 papers were presented in 7 sessions. And Prof. Dr. Toshiro HIGUCHI, Dept. of Precision Engineering, The University of Tokyo, Member of Executive CommittieeJc-IFToMM gave a special lecture entitled as 'Trend of New Actuator Research and Development'.

Annual meeting 2008
Annual meeting 2008 was held on 12th July, 2008 at Conference Room 304, Tokyo Institute of Technology after the 14th Jc-IFToMM symposium. The activities and the revenue and expenditure budget idea were reported, and approved in the business report in fiscal year 2007, the revenue and expenditure statement of accounts, and fiscal year 2008.

CISM-IFToMM Symposium on Robot Design, Dynamics, and Control (Romansy2008)
CISM-IFToMM Symposium on Robot Design, Dynamics, and Control (Romansy2008) was held on July 5-9 at Waseda University. It was a successful meeting to obtain 100 attendees.

Young Investigator Fund Best Paper Award 2008
The Young Investigator Fund Award in the year 2008 was given to Dr. Kenjiro Tadakuma and his presentation "Development of the Crawler Unit to Realize Sideway Motion with Circular Cross Section". The awarding ceremony was held on July 12, at the end of the 14th Jc-IFToMM symposium.

The Young Investigator Fund Award in the year 2007 was given to Mr. Hiroto Oyama and his presentation "A Method to Evaluate the Modal Damping Ratio by Using the Modal Open Loop Transfer Function". The awarding ceremony was held on July 12, at the end of the 13th Jc-IFToMM symposium.

The 12th IFToMM World Congress in Besancon, France
The 12th IFToMM World Congress was held on June 17 - 21, 2007 at MICROPOLIS Congress Center in Besancon, France. Many Jc-IFToMM members also made presentations in the congress. Prof. Yoshihiko NAKAMURA, the president of Jc-IFToMM was elected as the vice president of IFToMM in the General Assembly. Dr. Teru HAYASHI, professor emeritus, Tokyo Institute of Technology, the former president of Jc-IFToMM was also elected as Honorary Member of IFToMM. Prof. Toshiro HIGUCHI, The University of Tokyo, executive committee member won the Award of Merit.

Special visit tour 2006
Special visit tour at Omiya Workshop of East Japan Railway Company was held on November 7, Tuesday, 2006. At first, Mr. Hiroshi Hasegawa, General Manager of the workshop gave us detailed explanations about the company and the services to maintain train cars. Then we visited repair factories and railway museum in the workshop. We had 29 participants including Prof. Nakamura, the president of Jc-IFToMM. We would like to express special thanks to Mr. Hasegawa and members of the workshop.
